What's happening
Several insurers and agencies are now letting shoppers get quotes directly inside AI assistants, with Sure offering renters quotes through ChatGPT, Asshield adding quote requests, and Kin enabling a protocol for AI-driven shopping. At the same time, embedded insurance keeps drawing money and partners, with Slingshot raising $27m and Aviva teaming with insureMO on a European platform. Carriers are also buying tools for risk analysis, such as Donegal adding ZestyAI's property product and Sompo Japan picking CyberCube for cyber analytics. Meanwhile, Munich Re lifted its profit guidance on strong preliminary third-quarter results.
Why it matters
If buyers start their search in a chatbot, distribution power shifts toward whoever is easiest for an AI to quote and bind, not just whoever ranks best on a search page. Embedded and AI-channel sales both depend on clean, trusted data, which is why one commentary asks whether carriers can trust the data feeding their AI. Watch whether quotes made in chatbots turn into actual policies, and whether regulators, such as Washington with its updated claims-handling deadlines, start setting rules for how these sales and claims are handled.
