Insurtech funding statistics

208 rounds · $6.0B disclosed · $13.0M median · since Aug 8, 2024

The summary figures behind the round-by-round tracker — how big a round is at each stage, where capital concentrates, how this year compares with last, and how much of the underlying data is complete. Rebuilt every time the tracker is, and free to download and cite.

Year to date, against the same weeks of 2025

Each column runs from 1 January to Aug 8 of its own year, so the comparison is like for like — the open year is not being measured against a whole one.

Capital and round count move together only when the market is doing the same thing at every size — where they diverge, the median row is the one to read. Round-by-round tables: 2026 · 2025.

How big an insurtech round is

The median round is $13.0M and the average is $28.7M — a gap that is the whole story of this table. Capital concentrates in a handful of large rounds while most rounds are small.

Median round size by stage

What a round at each stage is worth in this market, from the 94 rounds whose stage a publication stated outright. Stages with fewer than 8 rounds are left out rather than shown with a median their sample can't carry.

Capital and round count by quarter

The median column is what a single quarter's total cannot show: a quarter carried by one very large round and a quarter with broad activity read the same on capital alone.

The earliest quarters are thinner because the archive was backfilled from dated searches, which surface less the further back they reach — read a rise across the first few as this tracker seeing more, not necessarily the market doing more.

Capital by market

Where the disclosed money went, by the home market of the company that raised it. Company locations come from the market pages, so this covers the countries this archive tracks in enough depth to name.

What is in the data

Anyone citing a figure above should know how complete the field behind it is. These are the disclosure rates across all 208 rounds, counted rather than described.

Field coverage across the tracked rounds
Field Rounds Coverage
Amount in US dollars 208 100%
Company attributed to the round 199 96%
Stage stated by a publication 94 45%
Lead investor stated by a publication 33 16%
Reported in a currency other than USD, converted 41 20%
Corroborated by more than one outlet 81 39%

Blank beats guessed: stage and lead investor are filled in only where a headline states them outright, which is why those two rows are the low ones. Every figure links to the reporting it came from in the full tracker.

How this is compiled

Every row is a funding round announced in the insurtech press and aggregated by Insurtech Daily. A round is counted only when a publication states a figure, so rounds closed without a number are absent. Amounts are shown in US dollars; a round reported in another currency is converted at a fixed reference rate and the row shows the figure as it was originally printed, so it can be checked against the reporting it links to. Market-size forecasts, earnings, acquisition prices and catastrophe losses are excluded, as are valuations — a headline that gives only what a company is now worth, and not what it raised, is not counted as a round. So are money raised by investors into their own funds, capital a company is spending rather than raising, public offerings and placings, and rounds still described as planned or rumoured. The same round reported by several outlets is collapsed into one row, with the extra outlets counted in the source column. Stage and lead investor are filled in only where a headline states them outright and left blank otherwise. Totals are therefore a floor on real activity, not a market estimate. Figures link to the reporting they come from — check it before citing.

The earliest months here were backfilled from dated searches rather than collected live, and those searches surface less the further back they reach. Coverage is thinner at the start of the archive than at the end, so a rise across the earliest periods may be this tracker seeing more rather than the market doing more. The quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year figures on the period pages are shown only between periods the archive covers in full.

This tracker is a work in progress, and data may contain errors and/or some rounds may be missing from this tracker. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the data tracked here.
